Atlas Mining's copper expansion, positive results on initial commissioning

5 February 2014

Cebu, Philippines

The initial commissioning of Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation's expansion project operated by wholly-owned subsidiary Carmen Copper Corporation yielded positive results.

Last January 31, half of the newly installed process circuit was operated continuously for about 60 hours or 2.5 days, giving high confidence in the equipment performance and proof of process of the expanded plant. While this is still part of the equipment and process commissioning exercise, the data gathered showed satisfactory copper recovery and grind size accuracy.

The commissioning work on the remaining half of the process circuit will start soon. Once this work is completed, the test run of the whole process circuit will be initiated.

The expansion project will increase the milling capacity of the existing plant by 50% or from 40,000 tonnes per day to 60,000 tonnes per day. The major components installed for expansion are two (2) units of 19x31 (feet) ball mills, four (4) 300-cubic meter rougher flotation tanks and an auxiliary line for primary crushing with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per day (tpd). The auxiliary line will augment the existing primary line which has a capacity of 50,000 tpd.

The expanded processing plant is expected to be fully operational by March 2014. - End — Video link on the progress of the expansion project: http://www.atlasmining.com.ph/media-center/news
